Hybrid Exhalations: Bamboo x Hand Blown Glass

Hybrid Exhalations is a series of found bamboo objects activated through hand blown glass additions.
While witnessing our unfolding genocide from a distance it was really important for me to celebrate Palestinian culture and craft through joy as a form of resistance against our collective erasure. This project was done in collaboration with the Twam family, glass masters based in Jaba’ a 5,000 year old village between Ramallah and Jerusalem that have been working with Dima Srouji for the last ten years. Srouji wove their pieces onto archival bamboo baskets from Japan, the Philippines, the UK that she collected over multiple months. The result is a light and playful celebration of craft and culture in a moment of global darkness.
